Dear Belmont Families,
Our District is launching a new notification service called SchoolMessenger to communicate with students and parents/guardians throughout the District. It will be used to deliver communication from the school (ex. newsletters) and also for communicating with parents that a child is absent. These attendance alerts to email and phone numbers are designed to ensure safe arrival of all students. If you receive an attendance alert, please call the office (604-533-3641) to explain the absence or request more information.
This new way of connecting with the school community does not replace other methods of communicating, the school administrators are always available to engage with students and families by phone and in-person. Please read the attached letter with accompanying infographic and instructions to opt-in for text messaging service.
As part of the roll-out of SchoolMessenger, our school will be sending test messages to assess how the system is working. As is the case with any new system, there may be some unexpected challenges or adjustments needed, so we ask you for your time and patience as we work together to get things running smoothly. Please take note of the dates and times below:
- Test Message 1 – Thursday, February 18th – afternoon
- Test Message 2 – Friday, February 19th – morning
If you do not receive a message within the time frame outlined, please notify the school so that we can solve the problem.
You may have already received or will receive a text message to opt-in for text notifications. If you do not receive one and would like to opt-in, you can follow the instructions here.
We will begin a trial run of using this tool for attendance and communication over the next few days. This will include using the system for student absence callouts. If you have any questions or concerns during this trial period, please let us know.
Our school looks forward to getting this system up and running to help enhance our communications with our families and strengthen our relationships.
